Akoya, Fannie Bay has set a new benchmark in affordable apartment design. Contemporary architecture and implementation of strict guidelines encouraging smart sustainable initiatives has given Akoya a distinctive character with lush landscaped exteriors and light filled flexible interior spaces which encourage pride of ownership.
CA Architects with TPG Architects have been employed by Halikos Group to redevelop the 16,800sqm site in Fannie Bay which was previously occupied by a public housing complex named as one of “Australia’s worst addresses” in a 2015 newspaper report.
164 apartments are spread over five individual three-story buildings providing a mixture of one, two and three bedroom options with open plan living and balconies sized to attract a diverse range of tenants. Community living forms the basis of the development, with casual meeting nodes and relaxation spaces integrated into the design. Akoya has been a catalyst for urban renewal, revitalising the surrounding residences and businesses.
