McClintock Residence-2

McClintock Residence-1

McClintock Residence

Set on 5 acres of eucalypt forest, the McClintock Residence was designed to make the most of its environment: relying on passive design principles to minimise energy usage and careful design to produce the sanctuary that the site (and client) deserves. The roof form is designed to form three building zones, providing low level spaces in the small rooms, and open, airy volumes with excellent breezes and natural light in the main spaces.

The budget was a significant constraint and featured in most decisions, however the emphasis was creating an effective place rather than a cheap building (to the clients’ credit). With the floor plan being so space efficient, the overall cost was kept impressively low.
