H105 Mitchell Street

Darwin, Northern Territory

The H105 Hotel in Darwin represents a notable enhancement to the city’s skyline. This 17-storey contemporary complex offers a mix of 180 hotel rooms and apartments designed for both long-term and short-term accommodation, providing innovative options within the competitive Darwin market.

The development replaced the former Top End Hotel, which was demolished in early 2014. Over a 16-month period, the development team erected a new hotel and apartment tower that not only revitalises the site but also provides panoramic views of The Esplanade and the CBD. The design features a striking three-storey car park concealed behind a distinctive perforated metal screen. This screen is designed to reflect the sky’s changing hues throughout the day and is mirrored in interior feature panels, adding a dynamic visual element to the building.

The hotel’s facilities are tailored to offer a comprehensive range of amenities, including a restaurant and sports bar, a large TAB area, alfresco dining options, a swimming pool, and a gymnasium. The architectural design ensures that these spaces engage effectively with the street, with bold use of color enhancing the hotel’s presence and identity.

The building’s exterior is clad in high-quality, modern precision materials that provide a low-maintenance and enduring finish. This approach not only contributes to the building’s aesthetic appeal but also ensures its durability. Internally, the use of premium materials such as polished stone, hardwood floors, and high-end fixtures and fittings would be consistent with the building’s exterior quality. These finishes would not only add to the aesthetic appeal but also ensure durability and ease of maintenance.
