Cairns, Far North Queensland
The hotel is located at the Northern End of the Esplanade boardwalk where the urban tourist-focussed part of the Esplanade transitions to generous Parklands along the ocean’s edge.
Crystalbrook Riley Hotel interiors were conceived to provide an open, light and breezy overall design approach to all areas of the hotel. The interior design language is used to link different spaces throughout the hotel, whilst also providing for differing functions and ambience of the various hospitable areas. Guests are greeted by a voluminous lobby that flows seamlessly to the outside environment of the lagoon pool, complimented by minimal interiors of white and timber. The design intent was to reflect the varying personalities of the destination venues from the casual, fun poolside café to the sophistication of the rooftop bar.
The hotel rooms and suites are light, sleek and minimal, opening up to the tropical views of the ocean and mountains. A ‘light slot’ within the integrated timber bedhead doubles as a shelf continuing into the adjacent ensuite. A glass privacy wall separates sleeping and bathing, allowing for natural light to penetrate the internal ensuite space. The light colours and minimal palette create a calm and relaxing space for guests to enjoy. The simple, timeless interior architecture allows for furnishings to be easily refreshed in the future.
