Located on Eureka street, Cairns, the Tafe Academy of Sport proposes renovation and refit the renovation and refit of the existing ‘K’ block into a dedicated high performance training centre, with a range of amenities in gym facilities, training, testing and recovery facilities, and a variety of office and administration spaces.

Furthermore, the proposed development includes a dedicated 1400m2 covered multi purpose training field. fully secure and connected directly to the gym, the training field is able to be utilised for a variety of sporting and training uses and in all weather conditions.

The academy of sport high performance education campus is a collaboration between Tafe Queensland and Central Queensland University. Innovative, industry led sports and athlete education programs delivered at the facility are use existing vocational and tertiary funding and delivery framework to create a sustainable usage model.

Academy of sport programs are open to student athletes across our diverse region, accessible, affordable and nonexclusive. This innovative model will transform our regions sporting landscape and provides a local talent retention strategy while addressing key industry workforce and community needs.
