North and Far North Queensland Education Facilities

CA Architects have worked on numerous school facilities including multiple buildings linked with covered walkways. In each school campus the new addition was orientated to suit the buildings’ needs and carefully integrated in the existing school master plan to allow for seamless functionality and leave room for expansion where possible.

Projects include age appropriate facilities and multiple buildings with focus on low maintenance materials delivered to a budget and on time. The interior design and fi t-out of offices. libraries and classrooms was a close collaboration of the user group to achieve the best possible outcome. CA Architects usually provided Design and Documentation and partial Construction Phase Services 32 Public/Catholic Schools and 5 Trade Training Centres.

Relevant examples of these projects include the following projects:

Whitfield State School Library, Cairns

One of the first schools to receive funding for a new library and multi-purpose building, this project demonstrates our approach to develop a very constrained brief into a new-age library perfectly suited to the school’s needs. The building is well integrated and linked to the existing master plan and has grown into a versatile, well-used secondary hub for the school.

We had the opportunity to incorporate different spatial ideas and have adapted the design to maximise benefits for the end-users of all ages!

Good Counsel Primary School Library and Admin Building, Innisfail

This was a difficult and highly constrained project refurbishing and extending an existing building with dark spaces and low structural ceiling heights. We worked hard to bring colour and light into the building to create a friendly resource centre and also modernise the exterior appearance whilst providing sun-shading to improve internal environment quality

Redlynch State College – Richard Ruddell Memorial Library

This BER project originally consisted of the creation of a new resource centre, however through our efficient design and pro-active collaborative approach we were able to save enough money in the budget to allow for renovations of the old library into the Music Teaching Block and a freestanding Performing Arts space.

Isabella State School

CA Architects completed Stage 3 At Isabella School at Edmonton, which included 3 learning blocks of different levels, an Arts Centre, Student Undercover Area and Amenities. As Principal Consultant we were responsible for the preparation of the PDP plan, and within the D & C Contract were responsible for the documentation. The project was completed 2 months earlier than programmed and within budget. CAA completed a further stage including the new Multi- Purpose Hall as part of the BER.
