Mission Beach House

Mission Beach, Far North Queensland

Positioned on an immediate beachfront site in the cyclone prone region of Mission Beach, the Mission Beach residence was designed to embody the characteristics of durability and function.

The primary objective is to create a resilient structure that can withstand extreme weather conditions, including high winds, storm surges, and heavy rainfall, while maintaining aesthetic appeal and functionality.

Primary living spaces sit elevated above storm surge levels on a reinforced concrete foundation. Cyclone-rated materials including reinforced concrete, masonry, and steel-framed walls with impact-resistant cladding making up the facade. Cyclone-rated, impact-resistant windows and doors and combined with a low-pitch roof design to minimise wind uplift and pressure differentials.

The design maximises ocean views and incorporates durable outdoor living areas that can be easily secured during a cyclone. The result is a durable, comfortable, and stylish beachfront living experience.
