Possum St Residence

Set on a small block with hillside rainforest in the back, just 60 metres from the beachfront, this residence is elevated at over 4m above the street level to capture panoramic views of the ocean. It was designed specifically with the requirements of the North Queensland tropical climate capturing breezes and playing with light and shadow.

All bedrooms, the living area and kitchen enjoy views to the ocean, with large open plan living, lounge and dining area opening out onto the large deck through folding glass doors.

The house is organised over three levels, with an the entrance and open stair connecting all levels, the garage and plenty of storage on the ground floor, lower level containing the functions that are best served by discrete spaces, separate bedrooms and service areas, and the upper level planned so the main bedroom and living spaces can all enjoy views of pool and ocean.

This arrangement of open living on the upper floor can be recognised as typical of beach houses, which strain to maximise the view to the sea and coastal landscape.
